The Four Immeasurables: Equanimity, Compassion, Love and Joy.
Friday mornings, 21 July to to 22 September, 9 sessions, 9:30am to 11:30am
Online via Zoom
The Four Immeasurables – the cultivation of loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity – are the subject of this 10-week course held on Tuesday evenings from 7 – 9pm, starting 25th April, 2023.
As well as developing an understanding of the Buddhist logic behind the cultivation of these immeasurable qualities, students will experience the rich set of meditation practices that open the heart, counter the distortions in our relationships to ourselves, and deepen our relationships with others.
In thirteenth century Tibet, the great Dzogchen Master named Longchenpa, taught that the conduct of a Bodhisattva can be summarised as having two aspects –
– aspirational bodhichitta, and
– actualizing bodhichitta
Longchenpa explained that aspirational bodhichitta is based on the Four Immeasurables –
- Immeasurable Love
- Immeasurable Compassion
- Immeasurable Joy
- Immeasurable Equanimity
