Tulku Pema Rigtsal  Rinpoche Teachings

Rigpa Melbourne is delighted again to host Tulku Pema Rigtsal Rinpoche to teach at the Richmond Theatrette 415 Church Street Richmond on Saturday 13 January and Sunday 14 January. This follows his previous visit in 2019, when he taught on Bodhicitta at our centre in Brunswick.

Tulku Pema Rigtsal is a Dzogchen master in the Nyingma tradition and has two monasteries in north-west Nepal, in the foothills of Mount Kailash, where he resides. One monastery with 325 monks and a nunnery with 150 nuns. He holds large annual summer and winter retreats for over 500 people. Rinpoche will teaching on Saturday and Sunday. You may choose to attend on either one or both days. 

Saturday 13 January 2024, 1-4pm : Calling the Lama from Afar

Tulku Pema Rigtsal Rinpoche will teach on Dudjom Rinpoche’s root text Calling the Lama from Afar. A prayer of the Dudjom Tersar Ngöndro, a terma practice composed and concealed by Guru Rinpoche in the 9th century, which was later revealed by Dudjom Lingpa (1835-1904) as part of a pure vision cycle. 

Tulku Pema Rigtsal Rinpoche is one of the main Dudjom Tersar holders.

Sunday 14 January 2024, 1-4pm : The Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind from Samsara

The Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind from Samsara is an important part of the Ngöndro preliminary practices, and for practitioners following a dharma path. These are the four contemplations that turn the mind away from samsara, namely:

1) the difficulty of finding the freedoms and advantages, and

2) the impermanence of life,

which turn the mind away from the concerns of this life; and the reflections on

3) the defects of samsara, and on

4) action (karma: cause and effect),

which turn the mind away from our attitudes and conduct with respect to future lives.
