BLUE SKY MIND

An Urban Meditation Workshop

Sunday 30 June 2019

10:00am - 4:00pm

The mind has two aspects

These can be compared to the clouds - our active thoughts and emotions that constantly change and can range from beautiful to turbulent; and the blue sky - that aspect of our mind that is still, peaceful, clear, wise and compassionate. In meditation we have the opportunity to get to know both aspects of our mind better and to connect more deeply with our true potential and who we really are.

Join us as we practise together

While this workshop will include clear instruction, the focus will be upon direct experience, practising together and answering your questions about meditation. Ian and Ruth will lead and guide meditation practices during the day, drawing on their combined seventy years’ experience of meditation practice and teaching.

About Ian and Ruth

Ian has played a major role in pioneering and popularizing meditation and other mind-body techniques in the Western world. In 1975 he had his right leg amputated due to bone cancer. Utilizing a wide range of treatment modalities and self-help options, Ian survived against the odds. He co-founded the world’s first lifestyle-based cancer self-help group in 1981 and the first similar groups for people with multiple sclerosis in 2001. Ian has authored six bestselling books, including the internationally acclaimed You Can Conquer Cancer.

Ruth has an openness, directness and authenticity that have endeared her to many. She has worked and studied for over 19 years with her husband Ian in meditation retreats around Australia and New Zealand. A GP with a Masters in GP Psychiatry,Ruth’s regular personal study and practice of yoga and meditation over 35 years informs her work in helping people open their awareness, and integrate their whole being.  Ruth has a special interest in what really helps people to heal – physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
