This is a unique opportunity to spend four days practising in a supportive community and receiving profound experiential teachings with brilliant Tibetan teacher, Khenpo Tsering Tashi. He will teach in person from Rigpa’s National Centre, Newtown, Sydney, though all participation will need be online given the COVID circumstances. We will dive into the nature of reality with The Heart of Transcendent Wisdom (Heart Sutra) as well as exploring Le’u Dünma - the treasure text words of Padmasambhava revealed by Tulku Zangpo Drakpa. Both texts are part of Rigpa’s Complete Path to Enlightenment and show us how to cultivate peace and happiness by working with the mind.

Making time for retreat is an act of self-kindness; an opportunity to put everyday life on pause and prioritise our spiritual journey.

This is a unique opportunity to spend four days practising in a supportive community and receiving profound experiential teachings with brilliant Tibetan teacher, Khenpo Tsering Tashi. He will teach in person from Rigpa’s National Centre, Newtown, Sydney, though all participation will need be online given the COVID circumstances..

We will dive into the nature of reality with The Heart of Transcendent Wisdom (Heart Sutra) as well as exploring  Le’u Dünma - the treasure text words of Padmasambhava revealed by Tulku Zangpo Drakpa. Both texts are part of Rigpa’s Complete Path to Enlightenment and show us how to cultivate peace and happiness by working with the mind

Khenpo will teach in person for two sessions each day. The morning session will be on the Heart Sutra with the afternoons on Le’u Dünma. Kenpo has a lively, interactive style and welcomes questions. The program will include daily meditation sessions and time for nourishing our social connections.

The retreat is open to everyone including newcomers, and students from other Buddhist traditions, in Australia and internationally.

The Heart Sutra teaching thread will be timed so that those in the Americas can easily join the retreat. The Le'u Dünma thread will be programmed so that those in Europe can join in their early morning.

Should you wish to attend and would like more information or discuss the content of the retreat, we welcome your enquiry by contacting us at retreats@rigpa.org.au.

Current COVID circumstances have required us to move this event online.

The event will be streamed and you are a Rigpa member, we encourage you to meet together with other sangha members to watch the teachings and practice together where safe.

Closer to the start of the retreat, we will email you with a daily schedule, Zoom details and other supporting information.

Please be prepared for registration on each day to be open around 8:00am AEDT and first practices to begin around 8:30am AEDT.

About Khenpo Tsering Tashi

Khenpo Tsering Tashi was born in Eastern Tibet in 1976. He received an extensive Buddhist education, studying and receiving empowerments from pre-eminent masters within the Nyingma, Sakya and Kagyu lineages, including three years with the great Dzogchen master Khenchen Choying Khyabdel (1920- 1997) who was praised by Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche and others as the equal of Milarepa.

Khenpo was imprisoned for two years in 2003 after Chinese officials claimed that a book he wrote, The Future of Tibet, was against Chinese policy. Following his release in 2006, Khenpo left Tibet for India where he continued his studies under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, His Holiness Sakya Trizin, and Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche.

In 2012 Khenpo established Yeshikhorlo, a Tibetan Buddhist Center of Study and Practice in Taiwan, followed by centres in Malaysia and Australia. In 2016 Khenpo resettled in Australia under the UN Refugee Agency, Humanitarian Program. Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche has encouraged Khenpo to teach in Australia. Khenpo has published numerous books and teaches weekly in Tibetan and Mandarin. His teaching style is pithy, direct and experiential. While Khenpo continues to improve his spoken English, he will have a Tibetan/English translator for this retreat.
